On one level, massage actually has little to do with muscles and joints and hands and backs. It has to do with the person inside the body giving the massage and the person inside getting the massage. The real massage is the transmission of a message from the giver to the receiver and back again: and that message is likely to contain elements of gratitude, understanding, compassion and shared awareness.
It is a wonderfully profoundly relaxing therapy, it is soothing, safe and simple and is very effective without the need to undress or use oils, which we found very useful in all sorts of environments as we travelled. It provides relief from aches and pains, stress, anxiety insomnia, improves circulation, deepens breathing. It focuses on the shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, face and ears.
I found it to be very compatible with Healing as it promotes balance in the mind and body and deepens the feeling of well being, it certainly reduces stress, and encourages circulation in the scalp and because a person is so deeply relaxed it enables the body to rebalance the energy flow naturally which leaves a person with a deep sense of peace and tranquillity when they leave a session.
